Open University Courses
Undergraduate Prerequisite Requirements:
The following courses (except COUN 690) may be taken at any accredited junior college, college, or university but must have been completed no more than ten years prior to enrollment in the program. We strongly suggest that you complete these courses prior to your first semester. See the FAQs for a detailed explanation.

PSY 451 – Theories of Personality – MUST BE TAKEN PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT IN COUN 700.

PSY 431 – Life Span Developmental Psychology – MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT IN COUN 702.

PSY 452 – Psychopathology – MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT IN COUN 703.

COUN 690 – Field of Counseling (may be taken either prior to enrollment into the program, BUT MUST HAVE BEEN TAKEN WITHIN FIVE YEARS FROM THE DATE OF ENROLLMENT IN THE PROGRAM or during the first semester in residence after acceptance into the program. Those applicants intending to enroll in the M.S. Rehabilitation Counseling degree ONLY do not need to take this course.
