Lauren Sneed, SF State Department of Counseling Lecturer Faculty, has contributed to a publication by the ACLU of Southern California, National Center for Youth Law, and East Bay Community Law Center titled,

Decoding Alternative Education: Student Demographics, Coursework and Budgeting in the Five Largest California County Offices of Education & Tools for Transparency.

Decoding Alternative Education calls on policymakers to require greater transparency and accountability from alternative schools, which serve disproportionately system-impacted students of color. The report also highlights a lack of publicly available information regarding curriculum, counseling services and teaching standards.

Lauren is pursuing her doctorate in the SFSU Educational Leadership Doctoral Program. Her proposal to present her dissertation research in progress at the Spring 2024 American Educational Research Association’s Annual Conference in Philadelphia has been accepted by the Special Interest Group (SIG) Division E - Counseling and Human Development.
