Alumni Spotlight: National Award Recognition

SFSU Counseling alum Gil Perez, LPCC, has been named the 2026 recipient of the SAIGE Joe Norton Award. This national honor, presented by the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE) of the American Counseling Association, recognizes outstanding contributions and exceptional service to LGBTGEQIAP+ communities.

SAIGE, founded in 1975, advocates for equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive counseling practices. Gil’s recognition highlights his commitment to advancing affirming, ethical, and intersectional care within the counseling profession.
