Andrea Crapanzano is an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Counseling at San Francisco State University.

He earned his Ph.D. (2009) from the European Institute for Research in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in Padua (Italy). In addition, Dr. Crapanzano received his Master’s degree in Community Psychology (2003) and his Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology (2001) from the University of Padua (Italy).

Dr. Crapanzano’s research and clinical interests focus on gender, sex and sexuality. He authored articles about sexuality and psychoanalysis as well as the history of homosexuality in the DSM.

Dr. Crapanzano has a full time private practice in San Francisco. He also serves as Psychology Consultant, Teacher, and Supervisor for Queer LifeSpace., a non-profit mental heath agency serving and advocating for the LGBT community in San Francisco. Previously, Dr. Crapanzano received training in Forensic Psychology and was a staff member at Sharper Future, an agency serving client on parole and probation aiming at rehabilitating and reintegrating in the community people presenting with sexual deviance. He currently serves as Psychology Consultant, Teacher, and Supervisor for the same agency.

Dr. Crapanzano is a member of Div. 39 (Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology).
