Liliana was born in Mexico City and crossed the border to the U.S. at the age of seven with her family. She was undocumented for 22 years until obtaining LPR status through a U-Visa. Liliana is a developing Decolonial Psychologist integrates the personal, research, and clinical practice to raise racial and political consciousness to heal from colonial and racial trauma. Liliana’s clinical and research interest are at the intersection of social justice, community organizing, and activism trying to understand the mental health effects of anti-immigration policy and racism on immigrant, undocumented, and refugee communities from a Liberation Psychology perspective. Liliana received the 2020 WebMD Educator Health Hero award for her work over the last 11 years on raising awareness about the impact of immigration status on health.
